As Featured in Western Living Magazine
Space Harmony is proud to be featured in last months Western Living Magazine. The magazine chose to showcase both bathrooms in our Kitsilano home renovation. These spaces were two of the most challenging areas of the renovation but were also the most rewarding. Both the powder room and the master en-suite had specific issues with regards to space and functionality. As it happens, these are two of the most creative and beautiful rooms in the final design.
The Master En-Suite
The Design Challenge ~ A small shower area
In any project there is always at least one design hurdle. Even the most spectacular homes have spaces that require extra thought and attention. A dream project no question, however the master en suite of this Kitsilano home did present us with our biggest design challenge during the renovation. How to make the en-suite shower feel as grand and luxurious as befit the home and finishes?
The Design ~ A stunning modern bathroom
Ultimately we chose to use a horizontal grain silver vain marble tile in wooden beige to give the appearance of width in the room. The 12” x 24” tiles are modern and bright. The large skylight becomes a feature and lets in an amazing amount of natural light. The wrap around bench under the slope prevents issues with headroom. The space is very simple and modern with coordinating tile on the floor and understated modern fixtures. The warmth of the tile combined with the view of lush trees and natural light give the space a wonderful feel.
The Powder Room
The Design Challenge ~ A small, dark bathroom
Like many first floor bathrooms this room was cramped and dark, an afterthought in space planning. The homeowners wanted a beautiful bright room and no longer needed a four piece bath on their main floor. They wished to take some of the space to extend the kitchen but didn’t want the powder room to suffer in style.
The Design ~ An elegant and compact powder room
Making the most of a small space was our creative goal in this powder room. The wallpaper makes a major statement and the small size of the pedestal sink addresses the space constraints. Neither boring nor cramped, this bathroom has all the style necessary and even more functionality.
