When we first encountered this Coal Harbour luxury vacation home, we immediately recognized its tremendous potential despite the poor finishes and inefficient layout that were holding it back. The spectacular views across the harbor to the mountains were crying out for a design that would harmonize with this quintessential Vancouver vista. Our vision was to create a space that embodied West Coast Modern design—clean lines, natural materials, and a seamless indoor-outdoor connection that celebrates the breathtaking surroundings.

We completely reconfigured the floor plan to maximize functionality and flow, transforming what was once a disjointed layout into a cohesive, open-concept living space. The new design uses expansive glass to frame the harbor views like living artwork, while the neutral palette with soft greys and taupes creates a serene backdrop that allows the natural beauty outside to take center stage. Custom millwork throughout provides ample storage while maintaining the clean, uncluttered aesthetic that defines the West Coast Modern style.

The kitchen became the crown jewel of our transformation—a stunning combination of sleek cabinetry and our award-winning statement backsplash. This unique feature, with its fluid blue and white watercolor-like pattern, evokes the meeting of sea and sky that defines the Coal Harbour setting. The backsplash has since garnered multiple design awards across Canada and the US, but more importantly, it anchors the space and sets the tone for the entire home. By thoughtfully selecting every finish, fixture, and furnishing, we created a sophisticated yet comfortable retreat that our clients can enjoy for years to come—a true reflection of Vancouver’s distinctive West Coast Modern design ethos.
