Why Space Harmony Loves Art Deco!
Every year there is one trend in home design that stands out from the others. This year for the Space Harmony team it’s Art Deco. The trend in Art Deco styling works so well into our sophisticated and upscale approach to modern spaces. We love the velvets, the warm metals, and the timeless use of lines and perspective. We think that any space could use a little Art Deco; it is refined, bold and has a sense of architecture. Here are our favourite aspects of Art Deco design.
1. Velvet of course.

We have already mentioned how much we love velvet and its sophisticated, luxurious appeal. Velvet is gorgeous in rich jewel tones like emerald green, deep blue, and gold are all reminiscent of the period.
2. A banquette.

Luxury fabrics take the banquette to the next level. It is the quintessential deco look, reminding us of restaurants and nightclubs from the era.
3. Warm metals with slim lines.

Brushed brass and nickel with delicate profiles are another reason we love Art Deco. The warmth of the metal combined with low, warm light creates a tone unique to this aesthetic.
4. Rounded furniture.

The standard for furniture for many years has been clean modern corners. It is so nice to see something new. The soft, rounded approach we see in contemporary furniture and décor this year is inspiring and fresh.
5. Dark, moody spaces.

A room can be moody and still be uplifting. Black is back for interiors, as is deep green, blue and burgundy. Drama is the name of the game and these rooms keep it dramatic!
6. Lines and more lines.

In furniture, in wallpaper and in everything else, Art Deco spaces utilize lines and perspective in an interesting way. Heavily influenced by architecture, bold lines appear in almost every aspect of the design sense.
